Dreaming an island

A documentary by Andrea Pellerani

About the Film

The Japanese island of Ikeshima is a place that seems to be ahead of its time, showing us a possible future. The few remaining inhabitants live in a surreal setting, clinging firmly to a normality that seems however to escape them. A dreamlike journey, which forces us to think about our relationship with the planet but also about social isolation and loneliness.

About the Soundtrack

Composed by Matteo Taheri during the Spring of 2020, the Soundtrack is divided into three acts, (Prologue – Intermezzo – Finale) and draws inspiration from the slow and declining life of the inhabitants of the island. The sense of a wait, as if time is about to tell if and when this island will witness the complete extinction of the human presence, have characterised the Voice Solo, beautifully sang by Swiss soprano Deborah Fogal and recorded at Hastings Studios in Zürich, Switzerland.
